Outdoor Astronomy Class

Hello

Welcome to the inaugural year of The Academy at Walnut Creek! We are so excited for all this new year holds for each child and family participating.

We acknowledge your courage to try something new, your willingness to contribute to build something beautiful for our children and families, and your trust that this will succeed. This is going to be amazing!

Helpful Info

Here are some important items to kickoff your year with us!

Intake forms:

If you haven't completed the intake forms, please do so promptly. If you have any questions about them, please let us know. You have to fill out EVERY blank to be able to submit them.

Math Assessment:

Each child in 1st through 3rd grade needs to take this math assessment

Each child in 4th-6th needs to take this math assessment.

Please email us at info@theacademyatwalnutcreek.com to report the math level and then purchase the correlating Saxon Math book set.

ELA Assessment:

If you know your child's reading level, you can report that directly to the same email address. If you don't know your child's reading level, please conduct this reading assessment and report it to the same email.

Volunteers Needed!:

The pink cells on the daily schedule indicate where we need parents to volunteer to be a support in the classroom. The support is present in the classroom and ready to help wherever needed. They are also to be aware of what is going on in the classroom so they can substitute when the teacher is absent.

Please identify where you can help support in the classroom and indicate on the spreadsheet. We also have a few spaces where we need teachers. If you are available to help teach these classes, please indicate.

Parents who aren't helping out in a classroom are welcome to stay on campus. However, please do not interrupt a class that is in session. Parents may join a classroom as additional support if granted permission by the teacher before class begins.

Drop Off/Pick Up:

The staff at Bert Adams has asked that we only park on gravel (not on the grass). They have requested that we park at Love Dining Hall and walk up the short trail to Fort Brumley.

Communication:

Teachers will provide lists to students on Mondays of what is to be accomplished during the school week. If your child will be absent on Monday, please contact the teacher for a copy of this information.

All families have been added to a school GroupMe. If you haven't successfully gained access to this, please let us know.

Lunch:

Please provide a sack lunch for your child (and a snack for children in the Montessori class). This school is established to provide an environment that nurtures the whole child. Please focus on nutritious foods in your child's lunch.

Tuition & Payments:

Please Zelle any payments to The Academy at phone number 8017225931. With Zelle, you are also able to setup reoccuring payments, if desired.
