FAQ'S
Q: Is The Academy a faith based or a secular school?
A: At the Academy, we foster a diverse religious environment and encourage both students and teachers to talk about their religion, not to indoctrinate or convert, but to enrich and inspire.

Q: Can my special needs child participate at The Academy?
A: Absolutely! Although our Professional Performance, and Leadership courses will be rigorous and fast paced, our Discovery programs are fit for children of all capacities.

Q: What do I do with my younger children while I am teaching at The Academy?
A: A nursery is provided for siblings while a parent is teaching.

Q: Do you use technology in your instruction?
A: An important part of personal development is learning how to be the master of technology and how to leverage technology to empower your goals and objectives. At the Academy, we encourage children to engage with technology as such. While we engage pen, paper, book and whiteboard according to a more traditional school environment, older classes utilize technology where appropriate. In the classroom, we never use technology for entertainment or as replacement for an instructor, and heavily discourage the use of technology for entertainment outside of the classroom. We have found that, aside from an occasional screen treat such as a weekly family movie night, the regular use of screens drastically reduces a child’s capacity to be creative, curious, think independently and explore–all skills requisite to be successful during our Leadership and Discovery courses.

Q: What is your classroom size?
A: In each classroom, students are organized into teams of four to six students with one adult mentor per group. Classrooms are capped at 16 students.

Q: My child struggles with one subject but excels in another. Will my child fit in your learning model?
A: Yes! Students are organized based on their academic level, not on their age. Children will move to different teams as they move to the next discipline. It will be natural for a child to be in an accelerated team in a certain discipline and in an emerging team in another.

Q: How can I access the resources of The Academy if I am not located in your area?
A: We would love to help you establish The Academy co-op and Community Learning Organization (CLO) in your area! Please reach out and we can help you get everything you need to have all the benefits of The Academy in your city.
